Week 3 Kitchen Clean Out

For this week's clean out we are focusing on the kitchen! Although everyone's kitchen is different, we hope you can take away some helpful tips and tricks. Remember, the objective is to clear the clutter! This clean out with take a little longer than the previous clean-outs, we warmed you up to this one ;)

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED:

We recommend having a few things on hand to make the decluttering process easier and more productive:
  • Totes to sort items you want to sell, trash, or donate.
  • 3 Plastic under-the-sink storage baskets and/or containers - we found great baskets at the dollar store, a cost-effective solution. We recommend plastic in case any products leak it's a quick clean-up vs cloth.
  • 2 Utensil organizers ( see photos on our Instagram post )
  • Pot and Lid organizers which can be purchased from Walmart, Canadian tire, or Winners.
  • Cleaning Supplies - Window cleaner, bleach, vinegar, toilet bowl cleaner, scrub brush, cloth, and paper towel.
We compiled a list of items we feel are essential in the kitchen. We recommend only keeping items you use daily in your kitchen.

KITCHEN ESSENTIALS:

  • 10 hand towels
  • 1 plastic scrub brush
  • Non-skid microfiber dry mat and rack
  • Soap dispenser or dish
  • Pot and Lid holder
  • Fabric storage boxes (2)
  • Glass Food Dishes
  • 8 plates, side plates, glasses, and mugs
  • Wastebasket
  • Utensil organizer (2)

ORGANIZING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Use a Cabinet or Drawer for pots and pans, and use an organizer to keep the space tidy.
  • Fabric Storage boxes for kids' cups, smoothie cups, glass food storage containers, and lids (we find glass to be great because you can also use the same container for heating in the oven, microwave, or fridge storage. glass also doesn't stain or absorb odor).
  • Plastic Basket for coffee kcups in the cupboard.
  • Utensil organizers for drawers - one for utensils, and the other for kitchen tools.

LET'S GET STARTED!

1. First, we recommend clearing the clutter off your counters and placing those items in a tote. We really want to evaluate what we are putting back onto the countertop. Having clean countertops reduces clutter and helps make the kitchen feel cleaner. It's also a great idea to give the counters a quick wipe.

2. Let's start with the cabinets and go through each cabinet, one by one so the process doesn't become overwhelming.
- Remove everything from the cabinet
- Wipe the cabinet shelves
- Start sorting by looking at each item and deciding what to keep. Place the items you want to sell, trash, or donate into totes.

If that item doesn't belong in that cabinet, set it aside and put it where it belongs once all the cabinets are organized.

3. Repeat with every cabinet and enjoy your clutter-free kitchen!
